This Saturday, December 21 is the Winter Solstice. At its core, this means a return to the sun. Gradually the days will become lighter, which highlights the idea of new beginnings and time for creating new resolutions and resolve. I have found it interesting watching my attitude towards various aspects of my world unfold between this current time of the full moon and the winter solstice. Between the current bustle of the holiday season, thinking back on the successes and failures of the new year, visualizing all my goals for the coming year I have been feeling a mixture of excitement, frustration, joy, depression, anticipation, trepidation...the entire spectrum of emotions have been present at least once a day. An A-HA moment after reading about the solstice happened realizing that spiritually it is symbolic of allowing the darker side of our personality to come out (especially in this highly pressurized season), to be acknowledged and to be transformed as it HEALS.
This is a highly potent time of transformation: New Season, New Light, New Year, New Goals, ETC. May we honor this time, let the darkness, frustration, fear and sadness surface when felt. Acknowledge it's presence, and create a space for transformation. Breath, Meditation, Yoga...a perfect space for transformative healing.
Return to the light this Friday, December 20, with Kristina at Yoga Bound. From 5:30-7:00 we will come together to Calm the nerves, stress, pressure of this season with Breathwork (Pranayama), Guided Meditation and a deeply relaxing restorative class.
